My first attempt on the Arches paper. It didn't seem to be any more absorbent than  masonite, but perhaps that's because I used very little medium.

Olive is a  member of a small herd of Hereford cows in New Jersey. She and her sisters are the oldest cows I have ever met. ranging in age from 17-22 years. They belong to a kind and generous couple who have had them since they bought the house many years ago.
