Vincent

12 x 9
Oil on Arches Oil Paper
My first attempt on the Arches paper. It didn't seem to be any more absorbent than  masonite, but perhaps that's because I used very little medium.

Sideways

This calf was a bit skeptical ...not sure whether to trust my presence in the field with his herd mates.

Blue Moon

5 x 7
Pastel on paper

I recently learned that cattle have magnetic receptors and can sense those fields. They generally face due north which is probably where this cow is pointed.

Olive SOLD

6 x 7.25
Oil on board
Olive is a  member of a small herd of Hereford cows in New Jersey. She and her sisters are the oldest cows I have ever met. ranging in age from 17-22 years. They belong to a kind and generous couple who have had them since they bought the house many years ago.

Siesta

Siesta
8 x 8 Pastel on paper
One of the calves from Deep Run Dairy. She was comfortable enough to allow me to sit down next to her and take lots of photos.

Levi

6 x 6 Oil
One of the handsome boys at Maple Acres Farm . Whenever I need to lift my spirits, a drive over to this farm never fails to do the job.

Euphrasia

Pastel on Paper
8 x 10
A Pinzagauer cow from a small herd not too far from my home. Their kindly owner allowed me to spend time with his "girls" in their meadow.
