Your work is stunning, Susan. This lovely painting of the sideways "cow" reminds me of the poem my father said to us when young... I've never seen a purple cow, and hope to never see one; but if I see a purple cow, I'd rather see one than be one.
Painting and drawing was a major part of my life as a child but dissapeared during my teens and through my life as an adult working fulltime in the corporate world. The awakening came one day at the office when I realized that I had to return to art, quit and took a partime job. I began classes at a local art league and painting at home.
Another awakening arrived when I had my first intimate encounter with a dairy cow. Then there was the interview with Temple Grandin...no more eating these beautiful creatures or anything with a mother. My goal is to depict these non-human animals as the sentient, beautiful beings that they are. That's it.
