I recently learned that cattle have magnetic receptors and can sense those fields. They generally face due north which is probably where this cow is pointed.
Painting and drawing was a major part of my life as a child but dissapeared during my teens and through my life as an adult working fulltime in the corporate world. The awakening came one day at the office when I realized that I had to return to art, quit and took a partime job. I began classes at a local art league and painting at home.
Another awakening arrived when I had my first intimate encounter with a dairy cow. Then there was the interview with Temple Grandin...no more eating these beautiful creatures or anything with a mother. My goal is to depict these non-human animals as the sentient, beautiful beings that they are. That's it.
that is a very interesting point Susan, I had no idea. From now on I'll be check that. Very "cool" painting with htose night/evening colors!
ReplyDeleteYes, just learned about this a week or so ago in the NY Times. Other animals have this sense as well.
