Camille SOLD
My facebook friends in the Pastel Society of America group helped me name this girl. Thank you, Joanne Turner! I love the name because it reminds me of Camille Claudel. She had an affair with Rodin and there is a movie named after her. A tragic story, or at least it seemed that way when I saw it many years ago. This Camille lives at Deep Run Farm in Bucks County, PA.

Halfway there...yay! I have met so many wonderful people who are also great artists because of this challenge. I am so thankful that Leslie Saeta created this project because it's already changed my life...can't wait to see where this will take me next!

Day 11 30 in 30
I'm learning so much with this exercise. I read a comment from Bethany http://www.bethanybryantart.com/ a couple of days ago who wrote that she couldn't subscribe to my blog updates which I didn't understand until I took a good look at this blog. There was no "signup button for email updates". Don't know how I missed it, but I owe Bethany big time! The first version of this painting was a bit dull ...this is a bit brighter.

Day 9 30 in 30 - Olive
Olive is a sweet Hereford calf that I met in Bucks County at an agricultural college. She has such a sweet expression that I will have to do more paintings of her.

Cookie Boy
Cookie Boy has been living as a pet about a half hour from me for a number of years. He has become a bit shaggy and long in the tooth but still a handsome boy. This is my first rendition of him. Visits to Cookie Boy always involve staying out of spitting range of the protective llama that he lives with. If you ever meet up with a llama, move back and out of range when their ears go down!

Another landscape painting. There is preserved farmland not too far from my home and this is one place in Lower Salford Township, PA. Jim McFarlane took a group of us out to this location years ago. I am so grateful to him for his generosity as a teacher and friend all these years.

Olympia
Olympia and her group of cows were resting in the field when I spotted her on the way to Vergennes, Vermont last year. Quickly finding a place to stop, I ran back and snapped a couple of photos of her before she got up. She snagged a number of awards in 2012. I was especially proud of her prize in the Philadelphia Water Color Society Annual Works on Paper in 2012.

Eli
I was kindly invited to visit the Detweiler Farm in Bucks County this past summer and spent a morning at their beautiful farm with well cared for Holstein cattle. There were two bull calves that almost didn't make it when they were born, but were nursed back to health by one of the owners of the farm. I was quite taken with one of them and here is my first attempt painting him.

Julius
Julius lives at a local farm in Montgomery County, PA. He's the first Charlois that I've met in person(?). He is the only one of the small herd that is not afraid of me and promises to be a handful later.
